Step 1: Display the Shortcut Menu
Display the slide you want to change (switch to Normal or Slide view so that you can clearly see the slide), right-click on the slide (don't right-click over a slide object), and choose Background from the shortcut menu. ![]()
Step 2: Open the Background Dialog Box
From the Background dialog box, click the drop-down arrow to display a list of other colours. If the background colour you want to use is displayed, click it. If not, click the More Colours option. This opens the Colours dialog box. ![]()
Step 3: Choose a Colour
From the Colours dialog box, select a colour from the Standard tab. Click the colour you want to use from the palette and click OK.![]()
Step 4: Apply the New Colour
To apply the colour to your background, click Apply. To apply the colour to every slide in the presentation, click Apply to All. ![]()
Step 5: Choose Fill Effects
If you'd prefer another type of background besides colour, click the Fill Effects option in the Background dialog box instead of More Colours. This opens the Fill Effects dialog box where you can select from Gradient, Texture, Pattern, or Picture backgrounds. The Texture tab, shown in this figure, contains quite a few interesting texture backgrounds that you can apply. Select the fill effect you want to use and click OK. ![]()
Step 6: Apply a Texture
Click the Apply button to apply the fill effect to your slide, or click Apply to All to apply the effect to every slide in the presentation. In this figure, I've applied a texture background that looks like beads of water. ![]()
