Navigate a Document

Introduction:

As you begin filling a document with text, the view area will move down to show your current cursor location as you type. When your document becomes longer or wider than a full screen of text, use Word's navigation tools to view different parts of the document.

Step 1: Use the Scrollbars

Depending on the size of your document, use the vertical or horizontal scrollbars to view different portions of the document. Click the scrollbar's arrow buttons to scroll in the appropriate direction. Use scroll bars: Thumbnail

Step 2: Drag the Scroll Box

You can also drag the scroll box to move your view. Drag the vertical scroll box up or down to move up or down or drag the horizontal scroll box to the left or right to move your view of the document page. Drag scroll box: Thumbnail
